DriveMotion Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 August 2026

These terms apply when you use the DriveMotion mobile app. Please read the safety section — it is the part that matters most.

Drive first, app second

DriveMotion is an assistance and record-keeping tool. It is not a substitute for paying attention to the road, to road signs, or to the law. Do not operate the app while the vehicle is moving. You remain fully responsible for your driving and for obeying the speed limits and traffic rules that actually apply where you are.

1. The agreement

DriveMotion is provided by InceptionApps (“we”, “us”). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Your use of the app is also subject to the rules of the store you installed it from — Google Play or the Apple App Store.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use DriveMotion on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, resell or redistribute the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction.

3. Safety and accuracy — please read

Warnings are informational

Speed camera, control point and average-speed corridor warnings are based on a dataset bundled with the app. That dataset can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong: cameras are installed, moved and removed, and speed limits change. A missing warning is not a defence, and a warning is not permission to drive at any particular speed.

Where local law restricts or prohibits the use of speed camera warning features, it is your responsibility to comply. Use the feature only where it is lawful.

Measurements are estimates

Speed, distance, altitude, consumption and scores are calculated from GPS, device sensors and whatever your vehicle reports over OBD-II. All of these carry error. Values shown in the app are not calibrated measurements and must not be relied on for any legal, official, insurance, commercial or safety-critical purpose, nor treated as evidence of the speed you were travelling at.

Your vehicle and the OBD-II adapter

Which values a car reports over OBD-II is decided by the vehicle, not by us; many cars do not report all of them. You use a third-party OBD-II adapter at your own risk and in accordance with its own instructions and your vehicle manufacturer’s guidance. We are not responsible for the adapter, for its quality, or for any effect connecting it has on your vehicle.

Clearing fault codes erases stored diagnostic information and resets your vehicle’s emissions readiness monitors. Do not clear codes before a service or an inspection unless you understand the consequences, and do not treat clearing a code as a repair.

4. Your content and your device

Trips, photos and settings you create stay on your device; we neither hold nor back them up. Keeping your own copies is up to you — the app’s export function exists for exactly that. We are not liable for data lost because a device was lost, reset, broken, or because the app was uninstalled.

Exported backup files contain your full location history. You choose where they go, and you are responsible for what happens to them afterwards.

5. Free version and ads

The free version is funded by advertising supplied by Google AdMob, shown as occasional full-screen ads and as rewarded ads you choose to watch. Watching a rewarded ad grants a temporary ad-free period; it does not grant a subscription. We do not control which ads are served and are not responsible for advertisers’ content or for the sites and apps their ads lead to.

How advertising affects your data is described in the privacy policy.

6. DriveMotion Pro subscription

We do not receive or process your payment details at any point; see the privacy policy.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use DriveMotion to break the law, to interfere with the app or its providers, to attempt to circumvent purchase or advertising mechanisms, or to extract the bundled datasets for redistribution or for a competing service.

8. Third-party material

Maps in the app use data from OpenStreetMap contributors, served via OpenFreeMap and rendered with MapLibre; attribution is shown in the app. Advertising is supplied by Google. These services are operated by others, we do not control their availability or accuracy, and their own terms apply to them.

The 3D vehicle models used in trip playback and videos are licensed from their creators; the attributions shown in the app form part of that licence.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the app, including features and datasets, and we may require you to update to a supported version to keep using it. We do not promise that the app will be available without interruption or free of errors.

10. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, for lost data, or for fines, penalties, accidents or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the app.

12. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it, remembering that this does not cancel a subscription. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page changes when we do, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. Where a change is material we will make it visible in the app.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms go through the contact page.
